Hey Guys back again.  I’ve been kinda busy, hence the no bloggage as of late.   This past weekend was fun- Friday night was supper with the girls- Mike’s restaurant, which was really good, there was almost noone there though.  Saturday night me and my bf went on a double-date type thing, we went to a “concert”, well more of an intimate concert.  There was about 100-150 people there.  It was for Don Ross and Brooke Miller, they are married and sometimes perform together, amazing.  They’re both hilarious too actually, very sarcastic which I love.  Then we went to a pub after for drinks.

We started belly dancing in my class last night!  So fun, it’s really hard though.  I know there’s some dancers out there, have you guys ever tried it?  I’m also considering taking one of these courses by correspondence-  I would hope I’d have the motivation to finish it on my own time, but I think that because it’s something that interests me, I could do it.

Also I think I’m gonna take a break from blogging, or maybe I might not again, I don’t know.  Life’s getting kinda busy- It was fun though!  I’m glad I “met” you all haha.  I’ll definitely still be reading blogs though, even if I’m not blogging.  Time will tell I guess.  Take care, and have a good night!

A little Salsa To Liven Up your Life

Dance classes started last night, it was fun!  Last night was “Latin Fusion” and it alternates with belly dancing each week.  I actually felt comfortable there, because I think most people there had zero dance experience.  There was a lotta hip action, and I am sore in the hips region today, which I never knew could happen haha.  It’s a first for sure.  I like exercise when it doesn’t feel like exercise.  Oh yeah, and the bf and I are going to Halifax, N.S. for a night on the Saturday before my birthday.  I am 23 on January 26 – eek.  And it’s so exciting, there’s a few vegetarian restaurants there!  And two that I’ve looked up use mostly organic ingredients.  YESS.  There’s a casino we’ll probably go to, but I’m such a nerd because the thing that excites me most is the restaurants.  Oh, and a store there also carries Sheese!  High-five!  Which is new because we have no decent cheese replacements in our grocery stores here.

Lunch:

Picture 032

Amy’s Bowl, Royal Gala Apple

Snack:

Picture 033

Bear + Liberte combo, Mango

I don’t think I much like mango.  Every time I buy it, it’s almost a disappointment because I think it’s going to be juicy and delicious, but it tastes dry and perfumy to me haha.  Anyways.  Oh!  Coconut- has anyone ever opened one of these puppies?  Friday night while watching SATC reruns, I was hungry.  I have never had to work harder in my life for my food.  I had to eventually bring out a gross hammer and go at it for like 15 minutes in the sink.  But it is soooo worth it, fresh coconut= heaven.  After seeing neat fruits all over everyone else’s blogs, I vowed to at least experiment out of the old comfort zone, ie: bananas, apples, etc.

On Saturday me and dad went to the market, all I bought was fresh rosemary- which I was going to use on roast potatoes today, but I pulled the bag out of the cupboard, and they’re all moldy!  Yuck.  In the evening 4 of us went to a hockey game, work gave away free tickets!  Then Sunday was a relaxing day.

I think me and Amy have another date tonight for supper haha, I love those meals so much.  Have a good night everyone!

Man, that company never lets me down.  Everything I’ve tried was golden, and so good for you!

Dessert will probably be a re-run of Barbara’s fabulous cookies.  Oh, and I even had a coupon!

I signed up for dance classes!  It’s belly dance and Latin Fusion, it alternates from week to week.  And me and my friend are starting the intermediate part of the french course soon too.

And I wanted to show you what I made for Christmas gifts!  I couldn’t post pictures before because it would have ruined the surprise.  Homemade soy candles, in a couple different sizes!  Yay.  My first couple batches were using lemon aromatherapy scents.   I printed labels off the computer for them.  Mannnn it takes a lot of wax flakes to make just one.  I was so naive I just bought one box, and then ended up needing wayyyyyyyyyy more.1

Picture 078

Anyways though, good night everybody.  It’s almost the weekend!

Happy New Year!

Helloooo.  I have been away from blogland for a while haha.  I’ll post pictures of snacks/dinners that I caught over the past few days, but I lost track of what was eaten on which day.  Everything’s not quite back to routine yet 🙂  Last night for supper me and my bf went to a restaurant with his family, and it was a 5-course meal.  Almost all of the dishes had meat in them, so they had to make the entree different from what was on the menu for me.  It was a really fancy dinner, and really good, but I didn’t whip out the camera, his family doesn’t know I have this blog.  Then at night we had a few friends over, and we went to a bar where there was a band and then a DJ, and a balloon drop!!  I hope everyone had a good night last night.

We are actually stormed inside today, it’s crazy blizzard-weather out.   We slept in (it was a super late night last night, almost 4 a.m. by the time I hit the hay), and watched movies.

Christmas Re-cap

Wednesday  at noon we got a phone call from our upper management at work that we could go home for the day 🙂  I actually ended up being the only one who went home, the guys I work with had something go wrong they needed to fix.

Lunch

Picture 003

Amy’s Vegetable Pocket, Chocolate Vitasoy and sliced apple slices with cashew butter (inspired by Brooke)  Really delicious and filling lunch 🙂

In the afternoon me, my mom and dad, and the two dogs drove out to a beach to walk them.  Well, let them loose.  We walked for about an hour, it was pretty cold out but the dogs loved it.  They ran around the whole time bumping into each other, rolling around havin’ a great old time.  Then mom and dad dropped me off and I showered, then made these cinnamon buns for breakfast on Christmas morning.  I subbed in spelt/kamut flour, and walnuts instead of pecans (that’s all there was in the cupboard).

Supper

 Picture 002

Amy’s Veggie Loaf meal, side salad with Annie’s Goddess Dressing and a roll

 Dessert

 Picture 004

An assortment of blondies, random squares, candy canes and gumdrops

The family watched a couple Christmas movies, opened our stocking gifts, then called it a night!

 Thursday

 Breakfast

 Picture 023

Picture 018

Cinnamon buns, assorted fruit, coffee

And then we opened gifts!  I got lots of great stuff 🙂  It didn’t really feel so much like Christmas though, for some reason.

 Dessert

Then they pulled out Bailey’s Cheesecake, peanut butter balls, coffee.  Ugh I was so full after haha.

 Friday

Today I relaxed, slept in, watched SATC episodes.  Then for supper we went back to my parents’, where we always do an hors d’oeuvres-type deal for supper on Boxing Day.  A  lot of the stuff had meat in it, but mom/dad also got some  things for me like Spanakopita, Vegetable Spring Rolls, Deviled eggs (making two before bacon was added), Amy’s Pesto Pizza, veggies, hummus, etc.  And then for dessert was leftovers from the night before + lots of chocolates etc.

A Snow Day, and 2 Left!

Yesterday the weather was pure craziness, first work was delayed until 10:30, then 12:00, then finally cancelled.  We got soooo much snow.  Days off work= amazing.  But, I was in the middle of watching my Sex And the City box sets, when the power went off!  So I thought, oh good, I can get some laundry done, NOO you can’t Sam, then I thought, fine, I’ll get some baking done, NOOO.  Things don’t work this way haha.  I think I rely on electricity too much.  So finally, the bf took a nap, and I read.  It was only off for about 2.5 hours.  I didn’t take pictures of the last two day’s eats, my eating has been insane I tell you.  But I do have a picture of the beginning of the storm, Sunday night from my front window:

Picture 018

But, this morning started off right 🙂

Breakfast:

Picture 022

Smoothie made with: organic blueberries, 1/2 banana, 1/2 cup vanilla soy yogurt, ground flax and a splash of vanilla hemp milk.

Lunch:

Picture 020

Salad with organic baby spinach, red pepper, green onion, tomato, organic sprouts, pumpkin seeds, navy beans with olive oil, diced garlic, dried basil.  Then I added in a scoop of mustard pickles, then I added this whole mixture into the salad.

Snack:

Picture 021

Coconut Larabar

In the mail today was something cool, well, very minor but I got excited haha, Amy’s sent me a brochure of the different stuff they have with 4 coupons, and a coupon for a free Amy’s product!  I got to pick which one I want.  It will be a pizza for sure 🙂  I emailed them asking about their cakes, and they offered to send me this brochure.  I love all their food!

Picture 023

Snack:

Picture 025

Nuts n’ Bolts my mom makes every Christmas- once you pop, you can’t stop.  Trust me.

Supper:

Picture 026

Amy’s California Burger, Ezekial bun, veganaise, tomato slice, lettuce, ketchup, 2 browning avacado slices and a small side salad with Annie’s Goddess dressing (and a couple bites of the Bf’s mac n’ cheese)

Dessert:

 Picture 027

For dessert I made these blondies– subbing in Spelt flour, and unsweetened applesauce for most of the oil.  They’re technically for dessert tomorrow night too, because it’s just going to my me, mom, dad and my brother.  I, mighta had two of these.  My supper will be an Amy’s frozen meal- Veggie loaf, for supper tomorrow night, beefed up with a side salad.  My family has a seafood dish every year for Christmas eve, so I requested this Amy’s meal.

I can’t believe Christmas came so fast, seriously, where did December go?  I don’t know how much posting I’ll be doing in the next few days, but if I don’t:

Merry Christmas and/or Happy Holidays to all of you! 🙂

Then to the mall.  Maybe not such a great idea.  My dad gave me money to get presents for my dad, and I already got her a certificate for a 1 Hour Massage, but needed some other things. It was SO busy.  And I was all greasy around my hair line from the facial haha.  But I found a scarf/hat set for her, and a  little exercise thing from Pilates.  Tonight I think I’ll relax, with the option of MAYBE going out, we’ll see.  I have A Christmas Story, Christmas with the Kranks, and a Charlie Brown Christmas.

Snack:

At the mall I got a coffee, with soy milk and organic sugar which I had with a S’mores Luna Bar when I got home.  I like these because they have vitamins/minerals added that I might be missing out on.

Supper will be the last of the curry, and some steamed kale!   Good night guys, enjoy your Saturday nights, I’ll leave you with a picture of Ax I just took, he’s sitting beside me 🙂

The rest of the night kinda went downhill haha, it was our last french class, and the teacher brought sweets, clementines, orange juice and wine.  Then when I got home I had a couple more of those chocolate chip cookies and sadly some more junk after that.  Ha.  This time of year is amazing, I love it, but the constant amount of food around is craziness.

Today’s breakfast:

Maneater

I heart the weekend, this cannot be stressed enough.  This morning for brekkie I used up an old packet of instant multi-grain oatmeal, which had spelt/kamut flakes, millet, and other such grains.  I added boiling water, then drizzled agave, cut up banana slices, ground flax, and a spoon of organic PB, with a mug of coffee.

Picture 086

I did some running around, and then started baking.  Taking a break in between for lunch, which was a random onion bun, toasted, with roasted garlic hummus, baby spinach and green onion, and a glass of Vanilla Basmati Rice Milk.

Picture 083

For supper we went to my great-aunt and uncle’s.  They usually serve the food buffet-style, as they did tonight.  Most of the dishes had meat, so I had some macaroni salad, bean salad, pickles and a roll.  And then a couple small sweets for dessert.  My great uncle looked at me SO weird when I took a picture of my supper haha, but he didn’t say anything.

Picture 092

Anyways, today I made: Chocolate-Orange Fudge With ApricotsGingerbread Men and Roast Cumin Cashews.

For the fudge I used all cashew butter, since I had no macadamia, and sprinkled it with cashews.  For the gingerbread men I made an icing just eyeing out Earth Balance Spread (melted), Organic powdered sugar, vanilla extract and soy milk.  The cashews recipe included just raw cashews, a flax “Egg”, cumin, cayenne, chili powder, sea salt and organic cane sugar, baked at 300 Degrees.

Picture 099

Picture 101

Picture 093

Picture 103

A few “samples” were in order, and they were all delicious!  I have to get up early tomorrow, me and a friend booked a table at a local flea market, time to de-clutter!  I think I’ma go eat another ginger man now.  Good night 🙂
